Eggs & Issues: Washington Update With The US Chamber

Friday, May 17, 2019
7:00-8:30 a.m.
Holiday Inn: Eau Claire South I-94
4751 Owen Ayres Court
Cost to attend: $20

A Chamber Business Advocacy event.  Investors: Partner Level - Xcel Energy; Advocate Level - Miron Construction; Supporter Level - Banbury Place/Cigan Properties, Eau Claire Energy Cooperative and HSHS Sacred Heart and St. Joseph's hospitals

Attend this edition of Eggs & Issues to get a valuable update on what's happening in Washington, DC, that impacts our local economy. We'll dive into the outlook for trade policies - the impact of tarriffs and the outlook for international negotiations - as well as what's happening with the hot button issue of immigration. We'll also get a perspective on expectations for action on infrastructure, the reauthorization coming up for surface transportation, and get insight on how federal tax reform actually turned out. The U.S. Chamber's John Kirchner will join us to bring a candid, business-focused perspective on these issues that you won't hear from political parties or the national news media.  John serves as the manager of Congressional and Public Affairs for the Midwest Region, where he develops and implements the Chamber's grassroots legislative and political activities.

To register, click here or call the Chamber at (715) 834-1204.

Excellence in Education

124 Area Students and Educators Honored at Annual Banquet

The Chamber recently honored 60 area high school seniors and their chosen educators at the 35th Annual Excellence in Education Banquet. Students represented 10 area high schools.

Each participating school selects honored students based primarily on academic achievement, although other important attributes, such as leadership, character, enthusiasm, community involvement, communication skills and self-motivation, also were considered. The Excellence in Education Banquet also recognizes an additional student from each school who has exhibited extraordinary qualities and effort, above and beyond what is considered normal or expected, and who is quite likely not a top academic achiever. Each student was asked to select an educator who incited a special interest in a specific subject or learning in general, demonstrated exceptional knowledge, served as a mentor or caused the student to do more than what might be considered possible.

For a list of all student and educator honorees, click here.
