The company was recognized for its efforts to enhance the wellness of its employees by implementing a workplace wellness program that meets eight best practice criteria established by the Chamber’s Health & Wellness Committee. As a member program started within the past year, Market & Johnson qualified for a Bronze Level Award. “We recognize that Market & Johnson’s most valuable resource is its employees, and that the health and wellness of our employees has a direct impact upon the continued success of our organization,” wrote company President Jerry Shea in a letter to employees when the program was begun. “We are committed to improving the health of all employees and family members while at the same time improving productivity at work and reducing our healthcare costs.” Kate Banchy of Spectrum Insurance, the Chamber’s Health & Wellness Committee Chair, and Bob McCoy, Chamber President & CEO, presented the award this week to Shea and members of Market & Johnson’s Wellness Committee. Market & Johnson joins the ranks of over 20 Chamber members who have now received a Workplace Wellness Award. The goal of the Chamber’s Workplace Wellness Program is to promote the benefits of having a healthy workforce, including reduced healthcare costs, greater workforce productivity, decreased absenteeism, reduced stress levels, improved employee health, and enhanced morale.
