October Workplace Wellness Network Presentation

8:00 – 9:30 am

101 N. Farwell Street
No cost to attend

Sponsored by: Achieve Wellness, HSHS Sacred Heart & St. Joseph's hospitals, Group Health Cooperative of Eau Claire, Marshfield Clinic Health System, Mayo Clinic Health System, Optimum Therapies, Prevea Health and REALiving

Join the Eau Claire Chamber's Workplace Wellness Program for our October Workplace Wellness Learning Circle! Our speaker this session will be AJ Sherman, Chief Operating Officer, Achieve Wellness, LLC. AJ has more than 12 years of experience in the corporate health and wellness field as a consultant, operations leader and project manager. He has been a key figure in helping companies save hundreds of thousands of dollars every year by helping them proactively manage their health population through wellness programs and on-site/near-site clinical strategies. He now leads Achieve Wellness, a local company that specializes in creating healthcare and wellness solutions for any type of organization.

Presentation Description:
HEALTHCARE COST. Already extreme. Still rising at a pace far greater than standard inflation. Many say it is unsustainable for businesses and employees. Surveys frequently reveal this remains the #1 concern of employers across the nation. It decimates profits for the company while eating away at employees paychecks right alongside high deductibles, which force them to choose between crippling financial burdens and the medical needs of their families.

With a discussion led by AJ Sherman of Achieve Wellness, we will dig deeper to reveal the two main sources of employers’ current medical care spend. With a better understanding of these sources, employers who attend can learn how to more specifically target their strategies to address the issue of healthcare spend.

The fourth generation construction company is a heavy civil contractor specializing in road construction and contract mining in Wisconsin, Minnesota and Iowa. The company grew from $25 million in revenue in 1984 to over $150 million in 2014. Hoffman Construction manages 30-50 major highway and site development projects each year with its fleets of scrapers, dozers, off-road trucks, backhoes and dump trucks. The company grew by more than 40 percent this year due to Foxconn-related work and bidding opportunities.

Jim Hoffman, a Black River Falls native, attended Stanford University. He received a degree in civil engineering and a master’s degree in construction engineering. After graduation, he worked in the San Francisco Bay area for Rudolf and Sletten, a building contractor, before returning to Hoffman Construction Company in 1989. He has served as the past president of both the Wisconsin Earthmovers Association and the Wisconsin Transportation Builders Association.

Cost to attend is $25 for Chamber members and $45 for non-members and includes a breakfast buffet. Breakfast will be served in the atrium outside the auditorium. The presentation will be held in the auditorium from 8-9 a.m. with a short time allotted for questions and answers. Please park on the first or second level of the hospital parking ramp.
