Join our area State Legislators for an update on action in Madison as the session winds up. Invited are members of the State Senate and Assembly who represent the Chippewa Valley. They'll discuss their top policy priorities, and answer questions submitted by attendees.

Spring “Test Drive… Next Stop Reality” at Real Life Academy Needs Volunteers!

Wednesday, April 8th
Varying shifts from 8:30 am – 1:30 pm
The Halls at The Lismore

The Eau Claire Chamber has recently partnered with Royal Credit Union’s program “Test Drive… Next Stop Reality” to integrate it with our existing Real Life Academy event! This is an interactive, hands-on, authentic experience for area high school students to learn about money management. In the fall and spring of every year, over 300 students from Altoona, Augusta, Fall Creek, Memorial, North and Regis high schools have researched and selected their careers, participated in classroom lessons on financial management, and are ready to put their financial skills to the test.

Volunteers are needed to help run the stations students visit – additional questions about how to get involved with this event please contact Casey Schumacher.

The Chamber and the Chippewa Valley Society for Human Resource Management (CVSHRM) will present its eighth annual Human Resource Conference specifically geared for human resource professionals, small business owners and managers. The conference will provide a variety of sessions to keep the HR professional or business owner in the know about key issues affecting the workforce. SHRM credit approval is pending. 

Registration Information
Cost to attend is $89 for Chamber or CVSHRM members, $119 for non-members, and $49 for Students and includes the keynote presentation, all breakout sessions and a presentation over lunch featuring the Think Eau Claire initiative.

The evening will kick off at 5:00 pm with a cocktail and hors d'oeuvre reception.  Attendees can expect a full array of abundant, scrumptious hors d'oeuvres served throughout the venue, on both levels, along with several cash bars.  The reception will provide plenty of time to network and connect with your fellow Chamber members.  

At 7:00 sharp, we'll be featuring live entertainment that will be sure to get you marching into the RCU Theatre!  You won't want to miss this fantastic performance!  Our program and awards ceremony will follow at 7:30.  We'll honor those who've helped to make this past year a success, celebrate some truly amazing Chamber volunteers and hear some special messages from our event sponsors.

Spring Local Election - Candidate Events to Help You Decide

Several important local city council, county board and school board positions will be on the ballot when voters go to the polls on April 7.

The Chamber is co-hosting public Candidate Forums for contested races to help you make your decisions. They include:

These forums are being video recorded by Valley Media Works, and will be available for on-demand viewing at http://www.valleymediaworks.org/

The Altoona School Board Forum is at Altoona High School, while the March 19 Eau Claire City Council Forum will be at Chippewa Valley Technical College, 620 W. Clairemont Ave. Following a moderated Q&A session, there will also be a Meet & Greet opportunity for voters to talk informally with the candidates. These public Forums are organized by the Leader-Telegram, WQOW News 18, Wisconsin Public Radio, Valley Media Works, and the Chamber.

Election Day

The April 7 election also includes races for Eau Claire County Board, State Supreme Court, and a Presidential Preference Primary. The Chamber will also be publishing Good Government Council questionnaires for local races, available later this month.
