Eggs & Issues: Wisconsin's Transportation and Administration Secretaries

Friday, July 19, 2019
7:00 - 8:30 a.m.
The Lismore
333 Gibson Street
Cost to attend: $20

This edition of Eggs & Issues now features two state cabinet secretaries: WisDOT's Craig Thompson and the Department of Administration's Joel Brennan, who are traveling together to talk about implementation of the newly-completed state budget.

Transportation was among the most hotly-debated issues during this year's budget deliberations. DOT Secretary-designee Craig Thompson will discuss the state's transportation priorities and how they will be implemented. WisDOT is one of the largest state agencies, with 3,400 employees and a biennial budget of more than $6 billion. The department supports all modes of transportation, including state highways, local roads, railroads, public transit systems, airports, and harbors.

The just-completed budget will also have a big impact upon the Department of Administration, headed by Joel Brennan, who works with the Governor and state agency heads to ensure the overall mission and vision of state government is carried out. His department is responsible for the new state capital budget of $1.9 billion. That includes $109 million for a new UWEC Science Building, which is among $1 billion in projects for the UW System.

A Chamber Business Advocacy event.  Investors: Partner Level - Xcel Energy; Advocate Level - Miron Construction; Supporter Level - Banbury Place/Cigan Properties, Eau Claire Energy Cooperative and HSHS Sacred Heart and St. Joseph's hospitals
