A Message Regarding Breakfast in the Valley and a Thank You to the Ag Community

As many of you are aware, our Breakfast in the Valley event would've taken place this Friday. However, with the ongoing pandemic, the difficult decision to cancel this year's event was made for the safety and well being of our community. Even so, we'd like to take this opportunity to thank our amazing ag community for all they have done and continue to do.

Please click on the video below for a special message from the Eau Claire Chamber to our BIV sponsors, volunteers, attendees and the ag community. We look forward to seeing you in 2021!

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion: Chamber partners on national initiative to address inequality of opportunity

The Eau Claire Area Chamber of Commerce announced this week that it is partnering in a national initiative with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce to address inequality of opportunity, an extension of the work of its local Diversity & Inclusion Task Force.

"Recent events around the country reinforce what we know: Inequality and violence tears apart communities and we must do better," notes the Chamber in a statement released today and signed by President & CEO Dave Minor.

The national initiative gives the Chamber an opportunity to enhance and extend the efforts of its Diversity & Inclusion Task Force, which was formed in 2016 and is chaired by Wes Escondo of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwest Wisconsin. Its goal is to share information and learn best practices about diversity, inclusion and minority business development to improve our workforce.

Eggs & Issues: State of Public Higher Education- Online Virtual Meeting

Join us for a discussion of the present and future of public higher education in the Chippewa Valley with Bruce Barker, President of Chippewa Valley Technical College, James Schmidt, Chancellor at UW-Eau Claire, and Katherine Frank, Chancellor at UW-Stout. They will provide us with an update on their current situations and plans for the future. They'll also talk about the role of higher education as our economy moves forward from the current COVID-19 health and economic crisis. This will be especially timely in light of discussions about potential changes in the UW System.

An online virtual event: Thanks to the Perigon system provided by WIN Technology, you'll be able to participate in this event live from your computer. (BYOB - Bring Your Own Breakfast!)

Registration closes at 12:00 noon on Thursday, June 18.  An email address and mailing address is required for each attendee to register. A link to login to this session will be emailed to you about 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 18.

Is Your Business Open or Reopening?  Share Your Information Via the Chamber Website

With the current and eventual reopening of many small businesses in the Chippewa Valley, the Chamber would like to keep the community and its members informed on how businesses will proceed moving forward.  If your business is currently open or taking steps to reopen in the near future, please take a few minutes to email us the following information:

  • Days and hours of business operations
  • Consumer expectations, i.e. masks encouraged, required, not required
  • Is curbside service available?
  • Are appointments required?
  • In-store customer limit
  • Any other pertinent information - steps you are taking to ensure safety, etc.

The Chamber has created a page on its website devoted to business reopening information.  This page will be continuously updated as we receive information from our members.

We also encourage you to reference the reopening guidelines provided by Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC).  The WEDC site breaks down each type of business by sector and gives guidance, resources and best practices to use within your business.

Please send your business updates to: mills@eauclairechamber.org
