Event Description:
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder in Children In this one-day course you'll explore practical, proven and comprehensive approaches to the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of ADHD. You'll hear the latest research regarding risk factors and etiological formulations associated with ADHD and explore evidence-based approaches to ADHD treatment. We will cover intervention methods that focus on problem-solving, self-management and social skill development. Learning Objectives • Describe the symptoms, diagnostic criteria and associated problems of ADHD. • Summarize the literature of conceptualization of ADHD including etiological formulations, developmental progression, gender differences and cultural considerations. • Identify four misconceptions about what causes ADHD. • Describe how negative reinforcement might contribute to inattention. • Implement best practices regarding ADHD assessment and conduct structured behavioral observations. • Effectively discuss ADHD with families and help parents cope with their child's ADHD diagnosis. • Implement evidence-based interventions that target problem solving, social and self-management skills.
