Event Description:
Finding the Balance between Ethical Commitments and Personal Values Explore religion and spirituality as they interact with your ethical commitments to clients, the practice setting, and the profession. Your religious and spiritual values are integral to your personal identity and must coexist with your professional values. Consideration of a client’s beliefs and values is an important component of a thorough assessment and a strengths-based approach. It is also an area where boundary crossings and violations may occur. Although social work’s roots are in evangelical Christianity, the professions’ commitments are to client self-determination and respect for diversity, including religious diversity. Today, many social services are offered by religiously affiliated organizations, which may present ethical conflicts and dilemmas as well. Attend this workshop and leave with a decision-making model you can use immediately. Ethical principles will also be applied to a variety of scenarios to see how this model works in real-life situations.
