Chamber Board Highlights: August 2015

Sam Stagliano, Bauman Associates presented the 2014-2015 audit report, which was favorable.

The Board discussed a potential tenant to replace the EDC.

An update was given on the Confluence Project and their fund raising project for October 16.

Cigan Properties is preparing a new lease for the Chamber, effective November 1, 2015. The Chamber will then sublet the extra office spaces.

The Board approved a Core Values statement. It may be read on our website.

The Board spproved using iPads for Board meetings after January 1. Two thirds of the Board members have iPads and the Chamber has a donor that will make available six or seven iPads for Board meetings. Security features and apps will be researched.

The conference room naming rights for the smaller conference room are still available. The Chamber Board voted to open this up to the first member that would like the naming rights for five years beginning November 1, 2015. The conference room would also be available for their use during normal business hours that do not conflict with Chamber meetings.

Join us for our next session of our Leadership Success Series featuring Dick and Rick Lommen of Courtesy Corporation - McDonald's. Dick is the founder and owner-operator of Courtesy Corporation-McDonald's. He began his career with McDonald's as a 15-year-old crew member. By the time he graduated from UW-La Crosse, Dick was managing the McDonald's of La Crosse on Losey Boulevard. Dick was provided with the opportunity to purchase the single-store franchise and became a McDonald's owner-operator in 1968. Today, Courtesy Corporation owns and operates 57 restaurants in the Midwest.

Dick's contributions and impact on the McDonald's system continue today. Dick is a member of the McDonald’s Food Improvement Team whose goal is to build the McDonald's brand by improving existing menu items and the innovation of the production process. Additionally, Dick was a vice chair of the National Supply Leadership Council (NSLC). The NSLC is a leadership team that facilitates communication between the regions and U.S. supply chain. He is a past member of the Supplier Advisory Council (SAC) whose primary role is to create a competitive advantage for the McDonald's system and establish strategic objectives.

Board Approves Emergency Prepardness Plan

The Chamber Board approved the Emergency Preparedness Plan on August 18. The plan was updated as part of the Chamber's Reaccreditation program with the US Chamber. The Board wanted to share this with our members, especially smaller companies, that may not have such a plan in place. Feel free to use any, or all, to prepare your own plan.
