You Are the Weakest Link to Internet Security
Presented by: Dane Deutsch, Deutsch's Inc.
Wednesday, December 2, 1 - 3 p.m.
Eau Claire Chamber of Commerce
PESI Conference Room
"Everyone has opened an email that a few seconds later they regret opening or clicking on a link. We know we did at the Eau Claire Chamber. Not only did it take time and money to resolve, but it also impacted our members. Fairly simple cyber security measures were implemented by DCS Netlink after the occurrence to lessen possible attacks. Even if your business or organization has one or two employees, some type of cyber security is a must." - Cheri Weinke, communications & operations director, Eau Claire Chamber of Commerce
Come and learn why you as the "human factor" are the weakest link when it comes to internet security. No firewall, no anti-virus, no anti-malware, no technology can completely protect you from yourself when you are on the internet.
So, there has to be a way to make yourself, your organization and your family a stronger link in the chain that forms internet security, and fortunately, there is! It is through education on what you should or should not do on the internet to ensure you do not "unknowingly" click on a nasty link or attachment that then steals your identity, money or livelihood. But, how do you know for sure that you and your users or family really understand internet security? How that education and training is delivered on a consistent basis is key to being cyber smart and secure. Living in the cyber world can be very, very risky and scary, but it doesn't have to be that way.
Come and learn, in a simple and in English ("no-geek" language), what it takes to make sure you are not the weakest link - your human factor can be the stronger link.

Generational differences have been at the forefront of workforce conversations for the past decade. The sense of urgency is heightened by the upcoming mass exodus of baby boomers in the workplace but also by the fact Generation X cannot support the upcoming leadership vacancies. It is a simple numbers game: the U.S. economy has more workers exiting than entering the labor force, and we will continue to see this shift into the foreseeable future. Understanding the current and incoming generations that make up our workforce is essential to attracting and retaining your talent of the future. Examining and preparing the newer generations is critical to organizational health and sustainability. Identify the similarities and differences of the generations and how to best lead and develop the Millennials and Generation Z population. This presentation will explore the benefits and challenges of the future workforce and what you can do as a leader to ensure the future is a bright one.

US House Passes Export-Import Bank Renewal
The US House of Representatives voted 313-118 last week to renew the Export-Import Bank, whose authority had expired this summer. This legislation has been a high priority of the business community because it helps small business exporters to have a level playing field when competing for international markets. Although the measure had strong bi-partisan support, a vote had been blocked by members of leadership who opposed the renewal, requiring a discharge petition signed by a majority of the members of Congress to bring it to the floor. Congressman Ron Kind (D-3) signed the discharge petition and voted for final passage. Action is still needed in the US Senate. Click below to contact each of our US Senators and tell them you'd like to see it voted on soon:
