Concerned about the new Overtime Rule?
Congressman Kind Needs to Hear From You Now

If you're one of the businesses or organizations impacted by the US Department of Labor's new Overtime Rule, there's still an opportunity to get your voice heard - but time is short, with the rule scheduled to take effect on December 1.

A group of moderate Democrats in the US House of Representatives have introduced HR 5813, The Overtime Reform and Enhancement Act, to soften the impact by phasing in implementation over three years and eliminating the automatic update provision. (Otherwise, the new rule will immediately more than double the qualifying salary threshold for exempt employees.) This bill is supported by the US Chamber of Commerce and the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). It represents the best legislative chance to lessen the shock of the new rule on small business owners, nonprofits, and other employers.

When Congressman Ron Kind joined Chamber members for lunch earlier this month, he expressed an openness to such an approach, but said he needs to hear from his constituents.

Take a moment right now to ask Rep. Kind to co-sponsor and support HR 5813. E-mail him at ron.kind@mail.house.gov (be sure to include your address), call one of his offices at 202-225-5506 or 715-831-9214, or click this link.
