Employers: Make sure your organization isn’t “invisible” to your future workforce. Sign up for Inspire Connections.

With today’s tight labor market and challenges in finding workers, a critical part of solution is encouraging young people growing up right here in the Chippewa Valley to aspire to careers with local employers.

Inspire Connections is a free online program that helps make that happen. It’s directly linked with the Career Cruising program currently being used by over 7,000 students in grades 6-12 in schools in Eau Claire County. As those students explore potential careers, Inspire Connections links them to the information about local employers that offer the kinds of jobs that fit their interests.

The only way to make sure that happens for your company is to be sure you set up a free profile. If you don’t, you’ll be “invisible” to local students as they begin to plan for their future. Inspire Connections also provides opportunities to offer job shadows, company tours, student employment and other activities.

The Chamber is offering two workshops coming to help you set up an effective Inspire Connections Profile. Click the links below for more information or to sign up:

Thursday August 30, 1:00 – 2:45 pm

Thursday September 6, 1:00 – 2:45 pm

If you can’t attend, click here for more information about Inspire Connections, or contact Scott Rogers or Kaylee Tracy at the Chamber.

 2018 Workforce Demand Employer Survey

As a Chamber member and local employer, your organization is strongly encouraged to complete the 2018 Workforce Demand Survey. The results of this survey will provide critical information about hard-to-fill positions and the impact of pending retirements on the local job market. This will inform local workforce development strategies to help employers meet the challenges that are identified. And since most available labor data is tied to national and statewide sources, this Chippewa Valley survey will provide timely information that hones in on only the local market.

The survey should take approximately 20-30 minutes to complete. The results will be publicly presented in summary form; however, all individual responses remain confidential. The survey is being administered by the Eau Claire Area Economic Development Corporation and the Department of Workforce Development in a cooperative effort with the Chamber, Momentum West, and others.

Click here: 2018 Workforce Demand Survey

Please complete and submit the survey by August 31, 2018.

Fall Election Races Set

Mark your calendar: October 11 Legislative Candidates Forum

With several highly-competitive races at stake, Wisconsin Primary Election voters turned out in record numbers on August 14 and whittled down the field to one candidate for each party for offices ranging from Governor and US Senator to local legislative seats. An active campaign will now ensue heading towards the November 6 general election.

Mark your calendar for the evening of October 11 for a local Legislative Candidates Forum, just one of the resources the Chamber will provide to help its members make informed decisions.

Click here for a report on the Primary Election outcome and what to expect heading into the fall. For more information, contact Scott Rogers.
