Vote Today: Important Local Races to be Decided

Make sure you have a voice in deciding who is making the decisions at city hall, the county courthouse, your local school district, and other important offices.

This year's non-partisan Spring Election includes a statewide ballot for Supreme Court, and local races in area communities for city council, county board and school board positions. Click here to see what specific candidates are on your ballot.

Election Day polls are open 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Click here to find your polling place. Voter ID is required.

The Chamber does not endorse candidates, but we co-sponsor selected Candidate Forums and our Good Government Council provides candidate questionnaires to help members make informed choices. To access these resources, click here.

Excellence in Education Banquet: Volunteers and Sponsors Needed

Wednesday, May 2
The Florian Gardens Conference Center

Each year, the Chamber hosts the Excellence in Education Banquet where we honor 60 area high school seniors and their honored educators from 10 high schools. This year's event will be held on May 2, 2018 at the Florian Gardens Conference Center.

Sponsors Needed
Help! We are still in need of a few more sponsors to make this event possible. We would like each student to sit with their own sponsors, but we are in need of more sponsors to make this happen. Would you be willing to help us?

Sponsorships help pay for the honorees' meals and gifts. All sponsors will have the opportunity to attend the event and sponsor a student. If you know one of the honorees and would like to sponsor a specific student and educator, we will be happy to honor your request. A list of this year's honorees is available here

If you would be interested in sponsoring this event, please click here. The sponsorship deadline has been extended to this Friday, April 13.

Volunteers Needed
We are need of additional volunteers to help at the banquet serving as table hosts and door greeters. If you would be willing to help us, please contact Becky Seelen (715-858-0615).

Thank you so much for your consideration!

Hacking and IT security has become such a regular news item that many business people are becoming numb to it, instead concluding that there is little they can do to protect their businesses, a concept known in the IT security industry as "breach fatigue." However, while the large company and state-sponsored breaches are the focus of the news, small and midsize businesses are still the most targeted by hackers because they are the easiest prey. To protect your business, you must first understand the nature of the threat, then how to combat it.

In this presentation, you will learn who is doing the hacking, how it works, recent issues and trends facing small businesses in our area and reasonable steps to take to provide a high level of deterrence to hackers coming after your business. This presentation is designed for business leaders who do not have an IT background and promises to be entertaining and provide practical advice that can be put into action quickly.
