Help Desk Volunteers
We also are seeking volunteers to work a shift at a help desk during the conference. The intent of the help desk is an opportunity for attendees to stop by and ask specific questions about social media or marketing from an area expert. If you would be willing to volunteer for 90 minutes, please contact Becky Seelen at 715-858-0615. After or before your shift, you would be able to attend the conference as our guest.

Women's Golf Workshop

Do you feel like you are missing out on key business opportunities because you don't golf and feel too intimidated to participate in one of the many community golf events held each year? More and more women are recognizing the value of golf as a networking tool. Join us for our annual Women's Golf Workshop for a fun, interactive afternoon that will provide you with everything you need to know to empower you to get out of the office and do business on the golf course instead!

1 p.m. - Welcome and Introductions

1:15 p.m. - Golf Etiquette

PGA Golf Professional Jim Buyze of Wild Ridge Golf Course will give a few pointers on the basics, such as what to wear, how to behave, what clubs to use and what other golfers will expect from you.

1:30 p.m. - Rules of Golf
Heidi Olson of Automated Financial Solutions will lead participants in an interactive activity to explain the Rules of Golf. Olson is a former women's regional affairs manager for the United States Golf Association and former head rules official for the Division 1 NCAA Women's Golf Championships.

2:30 p.m. - Break

2:45 p.m. - Golf Instruction

Wild Ridge & Mill Run golf professionals will provide pointers as you practice driving, chipping and putting. The group will be divided based on experience. When registering for this workshop, please indicate your experience level on a one to 10 scale based with one as no experience with golf and 10 being you golf regularly but would like to improve skills and learn more about the game.

Instruction will end at approximately 4:30 p.m. You are not required to bring your own clubs or balls. You are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing and tennis shoes. Don't miss this dynamic opportunity. Cost to attend is $35 for Chamber members and includes the workshop, instruction and time on the driving range. The cost for non-members is $65. Enrollment is limited, so register early!

Small Business Wellness Grants Workshop

Friday, April 29, 9:00-11:00 a.m.

Exclusively for employers whose organizations have 50 or fewer Full-Time Equivalent employees
No charge to attend, but advance registration required.

Sponsored by: Achieve Wellness, Group Health Cooperative of Eau Claire and Spectrum Insurance Group

A new state grant program reimburses small businesses for up to 30% of their first-year costs of establishing a qualified Workplace Wellness Program. At this workshop, find out how to qualify for these grants; how a wellness program can achieve benefits like improved employee health, cost containment and greater productivity; and get practical tips on how to take the first step.

Speakers include State Senator Terry Moulton, who authored the legislation creating the grants, and experienced workplace wellness experts who will cover topics like what to include in your program, how to implement health risk assessments in a small business, handling legal and regulatory considerations, and how to promote and sustain a program. Also hear a real-life success story of how a wellness program created a significant, measurable impact on an organization and the lives of its employees

Eggs & Issues: Eau Claire Area School District Finances

As the state's eight largest school district, Eau Claire faces a variety of financial challenges including statutory revenue caps; an outdated state school funding formula; the need to retain highly-qualified staff; and funding facility maintenance, safety and technology needs… all while fulfilling its primary purpose to educate students for today's workforce. With a projected deficit of nearly $4 million, the school board must decide this summer whether to take a referendum to the district's voters this fall. At this edition of Eggs & Issues, you'll get an update on the district's financial picture from Superintendent Mary Ann Hardebeck and members of the Board of Education, and have the opportunity to ask questions about the district's financial options and potential referendum asks.

Low DUI-Related Deaths in Eau Claire

ConsumerAffairs experts ran the numbers, and Eau Claire is ranked number 2 in WI for lowest DUI-related deaths. According to the U.S. Department of Transportation and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, there were 6.1 million police-reported crashes in 2014 (the most current available data).

  • 32,675 people were killed and 2.3 million injured in motor vehicle crashes
  • 31% of fatalities were alcohol-related
  • 28% were caused by speeding
  • 10% of fatalities were caused by distracted driving
