YLEC

Accepting Applications for Class of 2019

"LEC was an amazing opportunity to connect with the Eau Claire community in ways I never could have imagined. I always felt I was active and engaged with the happenings in Eau Claire. However, I found so much more that I hadn't been exposed to. The program really expands your view of our area and gives you the tools to make a greater impact." - Ben Michael, JAMF, LEC Class of 2018

Application Deadline is Monday, June 1, 2018!

The Chamber is currently accepting applications for its Leadership Eau Claire™(LEC) Class of 2019. The goal of the program is to enhance participants' community knowledge and leadership qualities through skill building exercises, activities and educational days. During the nine-month program, participants discuss the issues facing the community, develop the leadership skills necessary to assume leadership roles and are exposed to involvement opportunities in the community. More information is available here and you can download an application here

"I really truly cannot express enough how profound the experience of making connections, learning about professions beyond my scope of expertise, and making new-found friends has had a positive impact on my personal [AND] professional life." - Nicole Schultz, UW-Eau Claire, Class of 2018

An informational meeting will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 26 for anyone seeking more information about the program. Register here or call the Chamber office at 715-834-1204.

Hacking and IT security has become such a regular news item that many business people are becoming numb to it, instead concluding that there is little they can do to protect their businesses, a concept known in the IT security industry as "breach fatigue." However, while the large company and state-sponsored breaches are the focus of the news, small and midsize businesses are still the most targeted by hackers because they are the easiest prey. To protect your business, you must first understand the nature of the threat, then how to combat it.

In this presentation, you will learn who is doing the hacking, how it works, recent issues and trends facing small businesses in our area and reasonable steps to take to provide a high level of deterrence to hackers coming after your business. This presentation is designed for business leaders who do not have an IT background and promises to be entertaining and provide practical advice that can be put into action quickly.
