Congratulations to YLEC Class of 2017

On May 24th, 36 area high school juniors graduated from the Chamber's Youth Leadership Eau Claire (YLEC) program. In its 14th year, the program gives students a chance to enhance their knowledge and development leadership skills. During the nine-month program, the students learn about the community and future career opportunities. In order to graduate from the program, students must complete community service projects. This year, the class divided into four groups to complete the projects for the Boys & Girls Club of the Greater Chippewa Valley, Children's Museum of Eau Claire, Eau Claire Humane Association, Feed My People Food Bank and YMCA of Eau Claire.

More and more women are recognizing the value of golf as a networking tool. Join us for our annual Women's Golf Workshop for a fun, interactive afternoon that will provide you with everything you need to know to empower you to get out of the office and do business on the golf course instead!

Agenda

1 p.m. - Welcome and Introductions

PGA Golf Professional Jim Buyze of Wild Ridge Golf Course will give a few pointers on the basics, such as what to wear, how to behave, what clubs to use and what other golfers will expect from you.

1:30 p.m. - Rules of Golf
Heidi Olson of Automated Financial Solutions will lead participants in an interactive activity to explain the Rules of Golf. Olson is a former women's regional affairs manager for the United States Golf Association and former head rules official for the Division 1 NCAA Women's Golf Championships.

YLEC

Accepting Applications for Class of 2018

'I admit I resisted joining Leadership Eau Claire™ for a few years. Now after being a member of the Class of 2017, I can say I am disappointed I didn't get involved earlier. This program creates connections to the leaders of Eau Claire that without the program would likely not happen. The friendships and connections that are made through LEC are invaluable, and I will forever be an advocate of this program. Through the Group projects, LEC members have the opportunity to make a lasting positive impact on our community." - Paul Swartos, CCFBank, Class of 2017

Application Deadline is Thursday, June 1, 2017!

The Chamber is currently accepting applications for its Leadership Eau Claire™(LEC) Class of 2018. The goal of the program is to enhance participants' community knowledge and leadership qualities through skill building exercises, activities and educational days. During the nine-month program, participants discuss the issues facing the community, develop the leadership skills necessary to assume leadership roles and are exposed to involvement opportunities in the community. More information is available here and you can download an application here

"Born and raised in Eau Claire I was shocked by how much I didn't know about Eau Claire before my experience with Leadership Eau Claire™. I am so thankful to LEC for opening my eyes to all of the wonderful organizations and businesses that make our city a community." - Melissa Wilson, Chippewa Valley Technical College, Class of 2017

If you have questions, contact Becky Seelen (715-858-0615). Application deadline is June 1, 2017.
