2017 Human Resources Conference

The Chamber and the Chippewa Valley Society of Human Resource Management (CVSHRM) will present its sixth annual Human Resource Conference specifically geared for human resource professionals, small business owners and managers. The conference will provide a variety of sessions to keep the HR professional or business owner in the know about key issues affecting the workforce. SHRM and HRCI credit approval are pending.
Welcome and Opening Keynote: 8 - 9 a.m.
The conference will begin with a keynote presentation from decision from Jim Chiolino, the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development's Equal Rights Division (ERD) deputy administrator and deputy, Labor Standards Bureau on ERD issues and trends, including proposed rule changes and legal decision This "what's up" in Wisconsin labor and employment law opening session is a "can't miss" opportunity!
Breakout Sessions
After the keynote session, attendees will have the opportunity to attend four of the breakout sessions

From seasoned sales professionals to those just starting their careers, this conference will empower them with better tools to make this their best sales year ever!
Conference includes the opening keynote session, four different breakout sessions and a Progressive Power Lunch! Jerry Kollross of UW-Eau Claire will kick off the conference with a keynote address on a historical perspective on how professional sales theory has changed and how it has remained the same over the years. Progressive Power Lunch
Following the breakout sessions, attendees will participate in a fast-paced networking lunch. The Progressive Power Lunch is an easy way to make contacts fast. Here's how it works: attendees will be assigned to a different table for each course of lunch (salad, entree and dessert.) At each table everyone will be asked to share business cards and give a short infomercial on their business/services. By the time lunch is over, each attendee will have gained 15+ business contacts. Be sure to bring plenty of business cards.

Do you know current sophomores from Altoona, Augusta, Fall Creek, Memorial, North or Regis high school who wants to develop leadership skills and become more involved in the community? Encourage them to apply! Application deadline is April 8. More information can be found on the Chamber's website.

The Eau Claire Chamber Education Foundation is seeking sponsors to support its Youth Leadership Eau Claire program. Each year, about 70 students apply for the class with enrollment of only 36. Representing our community's voice in Madison on
January 31
Last Wednesday, nearly 100 Chippewa Valley business and community leaders trekked to the State Capitol to bring key regional economic issues to the attention of state policy makers in Madison. Click here for photos from the Rally.
Participants in the 24th Annual Chippewa Valley Rally heard a luncheon address by Governor Scott Walker, visited 110 offices of State Senators and Representatives, and interacted informally with dozens of state officials and staff members. The event was organized by the Chippewa Valley Chamber Alliance, a joint effort of the Chippewa Falls, Eau Claire and Menomonie Chambers of Commerce.
Key issues emphasized with policy makers this year included:
- Provide vigorous state leadership to address workforce challenges
- Maintain strong public education institutions as vital economic assets
- Address long-term transportation needs
- Accelerate rural broadband expansion
